Summer Fun

Finally the time has come for school to be out! I'm pretty excited to spend this summer with friends, family, and of course the tourists who ask you where the river is!:) Is it sad that I look forward to summer just so i won't be outnumbered by forigners when i go to my town grocery store? Well some say yes, others say no... But here goes the start of my summer fun and work and play!!!
Have a great one;)

My Life

The phrase "my life" is a reference to my gigantic purse. It is large and bulky and tends to get in my way along with being in everyone elses way. When one of my friends confronted me about this obsession I realized it was time to change before there was no return. Today, I went out and bought a new, smaller purse and it hasn't even tried to strangle me yet. Before this dramatic change everyone would come to me for everything from bandaids to hairspray to Clorox Wipes. Now that I'm looking back I don't even know why I had half the stuff in my purse anyway. I hope this change was for the better... Haha I will keep you posted:)

Anticipation Guide

I’m getting ready to read To Kill a Mockingbird in my English Class. I hope that the book holds up to all the rumors I’ve heard. In class we did an Anticipation Guide and the gist of that was: we were given ten statements to agree or disagree with. Here are some of the best statements:

1) Education occurs only inside the class room.

2) The advantages of living in a small town are greater than life in a big city.

3) Most of our values and attitudes develop during childhood.

4) All people are created equally.

5) Sometimes, it’s best to take the law into your own hands.

Feel free to comment on any of these statements. I’d love to hear what you think.

Summer School Tutoring--- My Last Day

Today is my last day of tutoring little kids... I only have 4 hours and 20 minutes left to do... I have had some fun times and some not-so-fun times. But overall I am glad that I decided to do all 50 hours this summer.

Summer School Tutoring--- Day 5

Today, Ms. Owens is reading the 2nd chapter of Trouble River to the kids. Then we are going to do a little activity with them. I hand out printer paper and sentence strips, Ms. Owens tapes the strips in the middle of the paper. The kids have to think about what happened before and after. An example is: She blew the biggest bubble she had ever seen. And the kids have to think of a sentence to go before and after that sentence. Then, they pass their paper to someone else. And that kid writes the before, then they pass it again and another kid writes the after. Finally, the first person who had it stands up and reads it outloud to the class. The things they come up with are truly unique LoL... TTFN

Summer School Tutoring--- Day 4

Yesterday, I left the school at about 12:45 so I could go swimming. After I had gotten to the pool, some of my guy-friends showed up so we hung out at the pool for 3 hours........ Today, the kids are going to listen to Ms. Owens or myself read a short story that has nothing to do with the book that we read yesterday. They have to make a chart and fill it in as a table. After that, they have to change the characteristic of the boy in the story and tell us how the story would change. The kids are making this really funny. LoL... TTFN

Summer School Tutoring---Day 3

This Memorial Day weekend I got so sunburnt, so I am a little uncomfortable, but I think it will be a great day... Ms. Owens and I are reading a book to the kids called Trouble River. Today we are reading the first chapter to them. But, before we read to them, we are taking the kids to the school library to check out two books to read this week. There are lots of great readers.

Summer School Tutoring--- Day 2

Yesterday went great... I got to know the kids and they are all unique in very different ways. I also got a sunburn, but watching them play kick-the-soccer-ball was so funny and cute. I was so tired when I went home at 3,so today I am going to leave at 12:40 to go swimming with my mother... Today, the kids are making portfolios to put all thier language arts paperwork in for this summer school 'year'... They are so creative. One of them has drawn a very detailed fishing trip, while the girl sitting next to him drew a fashion show...LoL... TTFN(Ta Ta For Now)

The Cobra Event

I am reading a book by Richard Preston that is called The Cobra Event. I am about one-third of the way done with it so far. The book is like a scary medical mystery. There is a chain of unsolved deaths that are all related but no one can figure out how. But, yet they know that there are about to be more deaths...Richard Preston is the author of a bestseller: The Hot Zone. If you like scary books that you can't put down, then these books are calling your name...

Summer School Tutoring--- Day 1

This summer I had the choice to either go to summer school for fun or do something more productive like tutor little kids that need a little extra help... So I chose to help out some local 4th, and 5th graders understand what they need to know to be successful in life. It has been good so far, but I am only 2 hours into it. Today is the first day of summer school and the kids are just talking and playing games... The kids are actually really fun to be with, and I can see the potential in each and every one of them...

My Long Easter Weekend

My weekend was pretty dissapointing... I spent it at Mercy Hospital. My Grandma started having some bad chest pains Friday, so they hopped in the car and drove to the nearest emergency room, where the nurses immediately started doing tests. They found out that she had bad heart problems. They also mentioned that her small chest pains were the warnings of an upcoming HEART ATTACK. So they sent us to Mercy, where i've called home for almost five days... She had open heart surgery and a double bypass yesterday, now she is doing ok. But, she's in sooooo much pain:-(... She doesn't look like my grandma anymore... If you want, you can pray for her, her name is Mary Jo... I would deeply appricate it, and I know she would too:-)
